DISTRICT OF KITIMAT CLIMATE CHANGE SPECIALIST EXEMPT STAFF CONTRACT POSITION The District of Kitimat is recruiting for the position of Climate Change Specialist. This is a Contract position until February 28, 2021. Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering Services, the focus of this position will be on the planning and implementation of municipal climate change priorities. The primary responsibility will be working on the development and implementation of the municipality's GHG emissions reductions plan. Specific accountabilities include: preparing the planning process, assessing the current situation, developing an action plan and measurement and monitoring protocols; conducting research and analysis for the purpose of implementing municipal GHG emissions reductions initiatives; leading public education programs and preparing a GHG inventory; organizing stakeholder consultations, coordinating policy research and development of technical specifications. The ideal candidate has a Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Geography, or Urban Planning. A strong knowledge and experience in the areas of GHG emissions reductions, climate change adaptation, sustainable development and asset management will be required. In addition, the candidate should have excellent organizational, communication and computer skills. The wage rate for this position will be $40.00 per hour.
