DISTRICT OF KITIMATMUNICIPAL BYLAW OFFICERRegular Full-Time position The District of Kitimat is recruiting for a Municipal Bylaw Officer. Reporting to the Director of Engineering Services, the incumbent will perform a variety of duties relating to bylaw compliance and enforcement. These duties will include dealing with bylaw enforcement matters, issuance of tickets under the authority of the Municipal Code and representing the District of Kitimat. This position will liaise with the public, all municipal departments and the R.C.M.P to ensure efficient communication and collaboration in dealing with municipal bylaw enforcement. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent Minimum BC Justice Institute Bylaw Enforcement and Investigation Program Level 1 Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Access Experience in the enforcement of Municipal Bylaw and/or regulations, and court procedures Conflict resolution to deal with people in difficult situations Legible handwriting Class 5 Drivers Licence You have the ability to work independently and are able to explain requirements of bylaws, programs, policies and regulations to obtain compliance and liaise with legal counsel. You are able to compose reports, logs, files and incident reports and prepare correspondence related to active bylaw files. Excellent communication and problem solving skills are essential.
