District of Port EdwardUTILITY OPERATOR The District of Port Edward is offering a career opportunity for a team player who would like to work in a small staff environment. The District of Port Edward is a small community of 500 people that is situated 15 kilometers from the City of Prince Rupert on the beautiful Pacific North Coast. Reporting to the Public Works Foreman, this unionized position operates, maintains, repairs and monitors the municipal water supply systems and the wastewater collection and treatment systems including pipe lines, pump stations, lift stations, reservoirs, and waste water treatment facilities to ensure the water and waste water treatment systems meet the requirements of the provincial statutes and regulations. This position requires being on standby after regular working hours and working overtime as required. The Utility Operator will also assist with ensuring safe work practices are used on the job site, shall work within the safety guidelines as established by the District, and assist in the development of safer and more efficient methods of work. General labour and other duties will be assigned to assist with the District's day to day operations. The ideal candidate would have a minimum of: Level II water treatment plant operator's certificate, Level I sewer treatment plant operator's certificate, Class 5 driver's license, equipment operating experience, supervisory skills and be in good physical health.
